“The Challenge” alum Wes fires back at cast members complaining about season 40 conditions

"If you ever complain about living conditions when on a show called 'The Challenge' you need to clout chase on another channel," he tweeted.

Wes Bergmann isn't on The Challenge season 40, but he's staying as involved as possible in the franchise by weighing in on its latest drama.

On Wednesday, the three-time champion shared his thoughts on Twitter about the new Battle of the Eras season and called out all the cast members who have been complaining about difficult filming conditions.

"But wait, they treated the cast like s---!" Wes tweeted along with a silly face emoji. "The show is called The Challenge. It’s in the title. If you ever complain about living conditions when on a show called The Challenge you need to clout chase on another channel."

Wes then seemed to reference another long-running reality competition series, Survivor, when sharing his support for The Challenge's production team.

"Do you know how hard it is to change countries almost every season whilst feeding/housing 40 cast members & over a 100+ production staff?" he wrote. "Some stuff will break & fall through the cracks. Trust me, if we filmed in the exact location in Fiji EvErY sINgLe SeAsOn it would be smoother."

Reps for The Challenge did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment.

Wes' comments come in the wake of multiple season 40 cast members saying they were treated badly during filming. Last month, Jordan Wiseley said on Instagram that "a challenge house is one of the worst environments to be in," and "this one was by far the worst treatment we've ever received as a cast and it's taken a toll." Weeks later, Theo Campbell tweeted that "production not giving a f" was "how the whole show was for us," and other cast members weighed in as well.

But season 40 cast member and returning champion Emily Schromm tells EW that, while she understands why some cast members were complaining, the conditions are to be expected from a production this large.

"Inside the house, you are in an environment where there's so many people that are used to being adults in their regular life and now we're being herded like cows from place to place to place to stay on production time," Emily says. "So there's an element that we lose our sovereignty, we lose a lot of our ability to call the shots. We're just along for the ride. Tell us when to show up, tell us what to do, that's what we're here for."

She was actually pleasantly surprised at how much producers cared for the cast members' mental wellbeing during and after filming.

"When there is a problem mentally, let's say, 'Hey, I really am struggling with this issue. I need some mental health support,' the quickness and efficiency in making sure that the resources were available with a call with a therapist was really impressive for me," Emily says. "It needs to be that way. This is a very intense experience to be in, and when you're not used to it after 10 years, to have even the confidence to be able to speak to certain production crew members and be able to feel as if I could ask for support in any way that I might have, even if I didn't use it, it was there, that was really important to make sure that they were taking care of us in that way. I don't think a lot of companies or production companies specifically do that, so I was grateful to see that."

The Challenge: Battle of the Eras premieres Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
