Chad Powers: Glen Powell Is Unrecognizable In First Trailer for Hulu Football Comedy — Watch

Chad Powers is gearing up for the gridiron, complete with shoulder pads, cleats, jersey and (a literal) face mask.

Hulu on Saturday released the first trailer for the football comedy, and the footage sees Glen Powell transform into the titular quarterback as he takes the field, promising “something kinda big” coming up.

Co-written and exec produced by Top Gun: Maverick actor and Loki creator Michael Waldron, Chad Powers centers on hotshot college football QB Russ Holliday (Powell), who, after nuking his Division I career due to bad behavior, conceals his identity and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers. The half-hour single-camera comedy — which is set to debut in the fall of 2025 — is based on former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning’s popular ESPN+ sketch.

Joining Powell is Perry Mattfeld (In the Dark) as Ricky, Quentin Plair (Tiny Beautiful Things) as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett (Sweet Magnolias) as Tricia, Frankie A. Rodriguez (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) as Danny and Steve Zahn (Silo) as Jake Hudson. Character details have not yet been revealed.

“We’re both diehard college football fans,” Powell and Waldron shared in a joint statement back in February after the series was first ordered. “When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world. We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game.”

Added Eli, who also serves as an EP on the project alongside brother Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz and Ben Brown: “The love for Chad Powers has surprised me in spectacular ways. I played 16 years in the NFL, but now when I’m in a restaurant or walking through an airport, it’s not uncommon for fans to scream, ‘Hey Chad!'”
