Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins was caught out by some eagle-eyed viewers tonight (May 11).
The gruelling special forces reality show prides itself on pushing its contestants to their limit, and then beyond. So if it emerged that some of the most challenging tasks were stopped and restarted for the sake of the cameras, it probably wouldn't look very good, would it?
Well, that's seemingly what happened in tonight's episode as some fans pointed out a bit of strategic editing.
In one of tonight's challenges, the celebrity contestants were tasked with locking their arms and lying down in the sea – whilst being battered by freezing cold waves – for a whole 25 minutes.
Having already told them how rubbish they all are, Ant Middleton then instructed the celebrities to float as a group and not break the chain formed between them.
In terms of what viewers were shown, the challenge was not stopped and restarted at any point, giving the impression that they carried out the task for the full 25 minutes.
However, as some incredibly observant viewers noticed, some of the celebrities appeared to be in a different position at various points in the task, meaning they must have stopped and restarted on at least one occasion.
"Must have been awful doing it twice..." tweeted one sarcastic fan, who shared images of Strictly's Brendan Cole, former heavyweight boxer Tony Bellew and gold medal Paralympian Lauren Steadman standing in different positions in a number of shots.
Another viewer wrote: "So that walk into the water took 3 or 4 takes? Brendan, Lauren and the boxer bloke swapped around about 5 times. Fake."
"What's with the editing on the sea challenge?!! One minute it shows [Brendan] next to Lauren then it shows [him] next to Tony?! How's that work?" someone asked him directly.
So that walk into the water took 3 or 4 takes? Brendan Lauren and the boxer bloke swapped around about 5 times 🤷♂️. Fake. #CelebritySAS— Seosamh O'Liathain (@liathainjoe) May 11, 2020
#CelebritySAS is such a set up. Some celebs clearly demanded a good edit in their contracts... 😂— Jade Symonds (@JadeSymonds) May 11, 2020
Elsewhere on tonight's episode, Brendan became the latest contestant to hand in his number and leave the show after failing to carry Bellow, a 17st mountain man made of lead and boulders, across a beach.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues next Monday (May 18) at 9pm on Channel 4.
