Following Chrissy Teigen's devastating announcement that she and husband John Legend had lost their baby son mid-way through pregnancy, celebrity friends are rallying round in support of the couple.

34-year-old Chrissy posted a series of intimate black and white pictures of herself, John, and their tiny baby son - who they had named Jack - on Instagram to share the news. "We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough," Chrissy wrote.

Shortly afterwards, on Twitter, the author and model followed up with a heartbreaking post. "Driving home from the hospital with no baby. How can this be real," she said.

On Instagram, close friend of the family Kim Kardashian was quick to respond to the upsetting post, writing: "We’re always here for you and love you guys so much."

Paris Hilton also commented on the update. "My heart breaks for you and John. I am so sorry for your loss. Sending you and your family so much love. Love you beautiful," she typed.

Gabrielle Union was also eager to offer up support to the grieving couple, posting, "We love you guys so much and we will be here for whatever yall need. Always."

Channing Tatum shared his condolences, writing, "Sending so much love to you right now," while Hailey Bieber commented: "I’m so so sorry. Thinking of you and John, praying for you guys and sending you so much love during this time. ❤️ "

It's clear Chrissy and John won't be short of love and support as they navigate this impossibly difficult time, with dozens more famous faces (and thousands of others) all posting their positive thoughts and offers of help.

Chrissy Teigen announced her surprise pregnancy this summer after the couple conceived naturally. Their other two children, Luna and Miles, were conceived through IVF, and they had been expecting a little baby boy. As Chrissy shared in her emotional Instagram post, they had named him Jack.

"We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever," she posted.

"To our Jack - I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you."

Earlier this week, Chrissy was admitted to hospital when bleeding she'd been experiencing for about a month intensified. "Every time I would go to the bathroom [there] would be blood... but today the big difference was that it was kind of like if you were to just turn a faucet on low and just leave it there," the Cravings cookbook author shared on Instagram Stories.

Chrissy previously told followers that the basic problem was a "really, really weak placenta". She explained further, using the analogy of a house for her uterus: "Basically, he is the strongest, coolest dude in, like, the shittiest house. His house is falling apart."

Chrissy had been on intense bed rest prior to her hospital admission, but despite the best efforts of her medical team, tragically her baby son was unable to be saved. We're sending so much love Chrissy, John and the rest of their family.
