Catherine O'Hara and Paulina Porizkova swear by this Jones Road Miracle Balm for mature skin — here's my honest review as a 48-year-old mom

The Jones Road Miracle Balm has over 58,000 reviews.

I tried Jones Road — is the celebrity-loved beauty brand worth the hype? (Photos via Sarah DiMuro).

Over the past few months, I have been inundated on social media with advertisements for Jones Road beauty, most notably its Miracle Balm, which has been dubbed “the ultimate blush for women over 50.”

Intrigued, I always pause to watch the ads, especially the ones featuring its founder, esteemed makeup artist Bobbi Brown. It’s no surprise I’m being targeted: Days away from turning 48, my postmenopausal skin is losing its luminosity by the minute.

Most days, my idea of getting glammed up is dry shampoo and deodorant, but I’m always on the hunt for makeup products that are easy to use and hard to misuse. The Miracle Balm, which is super hydrating and multipurpose, fits the bill: It can be applied anywhere from your cheeks to your lips — Catherine O'Hara even used it at the 2024 Emmy Awards.

In addition to the Miracle Balm, I had the chance to test three other Jones Road product: The Hippie Stick, The Cleansing Stick and the brand's Eye Cream. Are they worth the hype? Paulina Porizkova thinks so. Read my full review below.

Available in 13 different shades, this brightening balm is a great addition to your makeup collection.

Pros
  • It immediately brightens dull skin
  • Super hydrating for mature skin
  • 13 different shades to choose from
Cons
  • It may make cause breakouts on oily skin

🛍️ What is it?

This hydrating balm can be worn alone or over makeup to highlight and brighten the skin. It's biomimetic, which means it imitates your skin's natural oils and is replenishing for all skin types.

You can apply it using your fingers or a brush or sponge. It can be used anywhere you want a pop of colour or moisturizing tint; however, the brand recommends avoiding your eyes and eyelids.

⭐️ What I like about it

You don't need a lot, especially on fair skin: Just a few light dabs on my upper cheek area and, bam, I go from dull to dewy in seconds!

Colour options galore: While I opted for the shade Flushed, I am so excited to try some of the other 12 colourways. Apparently, the Pinky Bronze is the bomb balm!

It's perfect for my low-maintenance lifestyle: I need products that I look forward to using and that last all day long. I apply this first thing and it lasts throughout the day.

Room for improvement

A little guidance would be nice: Nowhere on the product does it tell you exactly how to use it. Luckily, I had gone down a Jones Road rabbit hole and had watched lots of video tutorials showing you how to apply it. But it would be nice if it came with instructions.

This all-over face and body stick is a hydrating superpower!

Pros
  • Super-duper hydrating
  • Great for face and body
  • Smells awesome
Cons
  • Don't love using all over my face, at least in summer months
$42 at Jones Road

🛍️ What is it?

This stick, with its beta-carotene-packed sunflower seed oil, vitamins and fatty acids, is sure to quickly give your skin the antioxidants and hydration it needs. From split ends to dry elbows, you can rub the stick on any area that needs a bit of moisture.

⭐️ What I like about it

I love it for my hands, elbows and heels: The medications I take to prevent my breast cancer from recurring dry out my hands and elbows big time. A bit of this super stick, and my skin is happily hydrated. I also really love using it on my cuticles!

Smells so good: The way this product smells is just delish! You can really smell the spearmint leaf oil.

Great for spot hydrating on the face and neck: I don't love using the stick all over my face, but on areas like my nose and neck, which are prone to dryness, a little bit of this balm provides instant relief.

✋ Room for improvement

It tugs a bit at my skin, so I don't love using it directly on my face: I find that it doesn't glide onto my skin the way I would like it to. As such, I avoid applying directly on my cheeks and forehead. If there is a dry patch I want to address, I put a bit on my fingers and apply it that way.

This travel-friendly cleansing stick is great for everyday cleansing and make-up removal.

Pros
  • Super convenient
  • Doesn't strip your skin
  • Ideal for dry skin
Cons
  • Oily skin types might not love it

🛍️ What is it?

This convenient cleansing stick is great for travel, especially when you want to pack light. The solid oil cleanser dissolves makeup and removes dirt without stripping your skin of essential oils. It's super easy to use. Just apply directly to dry skin, add water to create a milky lather and rinse.

⭐️ What I like about it

Great for camping and late-night flights: I recently had a late-night flight with a long, unexpected layover. I had packed this stick in my carry-on and was able to easily wash my face at the airport.

Glides on great: Just a light glide over my face and a little water is all it takes to activate this cleansing stick. I can see this lasting me a very long time.

Doesn't strip my dry skin: My menopausal skin is very dry and the biggest gripe with some cleansers is that they remove too much from my face. This left my skin feeling soft and smooth rather than dry and depleted.

Instructions, please: I think a few sentences on the side label with directions would be easy enough to include. Users always appreciate reassurance that they are using it as intended, especially when they are trying out a new product.

Jones Road

A few dabs of this lightweight eye cream is the perfect way to refresh your under-eye makeup.

Pros
  • Lightweight and hydrating
  • Doesn't burn or irritate my sensitive eyes
  • Can be applied over or under make up to refresh tired eyes
Cons
  • Not as potent as other eye creams
$44 at Jones Road

🛍️ What is it?

Made with macadamia seed oil and trehalose — a naturally occurring, antioxidant-rich sugar that traps moisture in the skin — this lightweight eye cream gently glides onto the delicate under-eye area. A small amount is all you need for instant hydration.

⭐️ What I like about it

Great under-eye refresher: I am a tired mom who swears by her under-eye concealer, but by the end of the day, it starts to look a bit cakey. With a few dabs of this nourishing cream, my tired eyes are revived, and I don't have to reapply concealer!

Absorbs quickly: It absorbs within seconds.

The plumping effects are real: Without fail, by late afternoon, my crow's feet really start to stand out. Yet when I put a bit of this cream on, the lines immediately soften.

My lids love it: I put a bit of this cream on top of my eyelids at night to hydrate or under my eye makeup during the day.

✋ Room for improvement

It doesn't do much for dark circles: It's great for hydrating but it doesn't do much for dark circles. Also, I would love a product from the Jones Road that contained retinol. Perhaps one is in the works?

I have adored Bobbi Brown Cosmetics for decades and Jones Road, with their clean, high-performing ingredients, thrills me even more.

I'm totally hooked on the Miracle Balm, I love the convenient Cleansing Stick and the Hippie Stick would make a great gift. However, while the Eye Cream is very nourishing, I don't love it more than my go-to CeraVe for daily use, especially for reducing dark circles.
