“I never made it to pick up my son,” he wrote. “I was alone on impact. Me and the truck. And then I guess the pavement.”
Beneath graphic photos taken at the hospital, Schulman detailed the horrifying injuries he sustained, including breaking his neck — “C5 and C6 [vertebrae] to be exact” — though he is not paralyzed.
“My hands were a question mark there for a minute, but the human body is incredible and so are HUMANS,” he declared.
Schulman went on to thank the medical staff at the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and its ICU. “It’s hard to feel sorry for myself when I hear from the doctors about how many people with similar injuries will never walk again,” he wrote.
Schulman ended his message on a positive note: “I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery.”
Schulman has been hosting Catfish since its premiere in 2012. The series, which seeks to uncover the truths and lies about online dating, wrapped Season 9 on July 16.
