Cate Blanchett Rewore a Simple Outfit Formula With a Bodysuit That Plunged to Her Waist
If you find an outfit you love, you might as well stick with it.
When you find an outfit that just works, it can be hard to let it go. While sticklers for old-fashioned sartorial rules might say you can never repeat the same outfit twice, Cate Blanchett is here to prove them wrong.
Last night, the actor appeared at the premiere of the animated filmThe Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim in London's Leicester Square. Instead of rocking a brand new look, she chose to repurpose an old outfit. Last week, Blanchett appeared at the premiere of Vogue: Inventing the Runway wearing a black Louis Vuitton bodysuit that plunged to her belly button along with a brown tweed suit. Apparently, she loved the look so much, she decided to take it for another spin—with a few notable twists, of course.
Blanchett rewore the same plunging bodysuit, as well as the same chunky gold chain necklaces from her first look. Once again, she paired the menswear look with black heels. However, she opted for a slightly different tweed suit that featured a double-breasted design, a more oversized silhouette, and wider trouser legs. Without the knit insert in the suit jacket, she also showed off a little more of her bodysuit. She also dressed up the look by wearing her hair down in a cropped blunt bob.
Blanchett starred in the iconic Lord of the Rings trilogy as Galadriel back in the early 2000s. She was joined at last night's premiere by the trilogy's director, Peter Jackson, and Sir Ian McKellen, who starred as Gandalf. Also in attendance were other alumni of the Lord of the Rings universe, including Richard Armitage, Adam Brown, Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, and Andy Serkis.
As Blanchett proved at last night's LOTR reunion, sometimes, all you really need is a few, versatile pieces—clearly, the capsule wardrobe theory is working well for her.
