Casualty's head honcho Loretta Preece says there'll be more big character returns "over the next 12 months".
Ahead of the medical soap's 35th anniversary year, she sat down with Digital Spy for an exclusive chinwag about what fans can expect from the denizens of Holby City Hospital.
"Watch this space... viewers are in for a treat!" she said of the familiar faces making a grand return.
"We are going in a totally different direction for our 35th anniversary special, something very different which we are confident will be a real fan favourite. Watch this space."
Preece went on to elaborate: "Happily a couple of the characters that I would most like to see return will be doing so over the next 12 months, and at least one of those returns comes from a very unexpected direction."
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Michael Stevenson's Iain Dean will be back in the picture after leaving the hospital to pursue a new career back in September.
In an interview with the Daily Star, the actor beamed: "I am absolutely thrilled to be back with the Casualty family. I am excited to crack on and see what's in store for Iain!"
Quicker than expected, but we're not complaining.
Casualty returns on Saturday, January 2 at 7.35pm on BBC One.
