With the new HBO series 'The Last of Us,' we're getting another entry in the zombie horror cinematic universe with this adaptation of the beloved video game series. The show has already been praised for its stellar casting of characters that fans know and love, which is definitely hard to pull off. If you're curious to know the actors behind the characters of the show, here is what the cast of 'The Last of Us' is up to outside of the zombie apocalypse.

Pascal is bringing his own to the lead part of Joel, a smuggler with a checkered and traumatic past who reluctantly becomes Ellie's caretaker for a cross-country journey.

Pascal at the show's premiere. He is best known for his roles as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones and as the DEA agent Javier Peńa in Narcos.

Troy Baker, who first played Joel in the games, is a prolific voice actor, who pops up in cartoons and English dubs of anime series.

Ramsey plays Ellie, the show's other lead. Ellie is a precocious and foul-mouthed teenager who has a secret that could change the course of humanity's fight against the cordyceps fungus.

Another Game of Thrones alum, Ramsey has already made the role of Ellie her own. Here, Ramsey is having a good time at the premiere of her film Catherine Called Birdy, written and directed by Lena Dunham.

Luna is playing the supporting role of Joel's brother Tommy, who drifts apart from his sibling in the time jump in the show's pilot.

Luna seems much more chilled out when he isn't being forced to fight to save his family against fungal monsters, who knew?

Parker plays Joel's daughter Sarah in the HBO adaptation. She is our window into the first moments of the zombie apocalypse as we see society collapse through her perspective in the pilot.

Parker with her mother, the acclaimed actress Thandiwe Newton. This is Parker's second HBO project, as she played the part of Ellie in a 2020 miniseries for the network called The Third Day.

Torv plays Joel's smuggling partner and friend Tess, who he met years into the outbreak while the city of Boston is under military quarantine rule.

The Australian actress is best known for roles in mind-bending TV shows including the cult hit Fringe, and the more recent thriller Mindhunter.

Merle Dandrige (left) plays Marlene, the local commander of a revolutionary group called the Fireflies which is fighting against the military police force FEDRA which controls most cities.

Dandridge is a highly accomplished Broadway actress with credits in shows like Jesus Christ Superstar and Rent. She has the distinction of being the only cast member of the show who also played her same part in the video games, doing voice acting and motion capture for Marlene in both The Last of Us games.

Offerman is playing the intense survivalist character Bill, who is a fan favorite in the game.

This may be a jump scare for those who have never seen Offerman without facial hair, but he cleans up well! He is easily best known for playing Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation, and famously shares that character's love at and skill for woodworking.
