Carol Vorderman debuts glam new hair-do for Pride of Britain Awards

TV presenter Carol Vorderman changes her look faster than she used to race through sums on Countdown.

From long hair to shoulder-skimming bob, and sporty leggings to sweeping evening frocks, the star, 60, loves to play with hair, make-up and fashion to maximise her good looks.

This week, she shared a snap of her new cut and colour, ready to present The Pride of Britain Awards, the much-anticipated annual ceremony that rewards Brits for heroic and selfless acts.

Carol posted the shot of herself with her hairdresser Kala, who was sensibly masked up. It seems Carol was in Wales, where she often stays in her second home in Pembrokeshire.

She has previously shown off its glass balcony with gorgeous landscape views, and has said that Wales is 'very dear' to her heart as spent several years of her childhood there.

She visited Kala's Hair Boutique in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, which won 2019 Welsh Colour Technician of the Year, and has 5 stars in the Good Salon Guide.

Kala captioned the snap, "Spent a lot of the afternoon with this babe ready for the @prideofbritainawards", while Carol wrote under the same image, "Gone a bit blonder for the @prideofbritainawards...thank you thank you Kala @kalashairboutique. Loving it. xx"

In reply to her friend Dr Who and It's a Sin writer Russell T Davies, who commented 'beautiful' with a heart emoji, Carol added,

"awwww...I go to Kala (Pembs) as she's won so many awards and is the loveliest woman ever... and to find out what I've apparently done according to latest Pembs gossip."

She added a cry-laughing emoji to her comment.

Kala commented "Glad you like it, always a fun afternoon" and fans piled in with compliments.

Carol seemingly loves her South West-based life, and was spotted strolling along the harbourside in Bristol later that day. She moved to her main home in Bristol for the city's 'green' 'Bohemian' vibe, and has shared snaps of its glamorous interior, with polished wooden floors, open fires and glass chandeliers.

Carol will be presenting The Pride of Britain awards for the 22nd year running, this time with choreographer and presenter Ashley Banjo, who she became friends with when they appeared in I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here together, in 2016.

The awards ceremony will air on ITV on November 4, and Carol shared a picture of her and Ashley, captioned 'they are exceptional people and we have lots of surprises for them in store.'

Carol has recently spoken about how happy she is to be single, working and having fun, and called out the haters who criticise her looks and style.

"Now I'm 60, I still get slated by some of my own generation," she told Hello magazine. "I wore leggings the other day with some mesh in – I'd had them for years and I wore them with a tatty jumper. I had, 'She should know better at her age,' and 'What a ridiculous thing to do at 60.'

"But now there are many younger generations who stick up for me, they don't see a number in age as any reason to dictate what you 'should' do. And they're right, those so-called rules are utter, utter nonsense," she went on.

"When you have that perspective of 60 years, you can look back and say, 'Hang on'. I just think what is this rule you've made up that someone aged 60 can't wear leggings? Because 30 years ago there were different rules," she adds.

"They aren't god-given or absolute rules, you've just made them up and you are restricting your own lives by living by them… Run and get out of that mindset now because you're only here once. Life isn't a rehearsal!"
