Carina Lau: We should be proud of Tony Leung!
16 Apr - Carina Lau recently expressed support towards her husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai, who has been nominated and won at the Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) multiple times including this year.
The actress, who accepted Tony's sixth accolade at the ceremony on 14 March while the actor was in Germany filming his new project, stated that she has been with Tony for so many years and thinks that he is such a great actor.
"I think Tony has put in 500 percent or even a thousand percent effort. We should be proud to have such a great actor as him," she said.
Meanwhile, Tony, who spoke via video from Germany, expressed that he can accept the praise of being a good actor but that he can't bear being called great.
It is noted that this is Tony's sixth Best Actor accolade which he won for his performance in "The Goldfinger." This makes him the actor with the most HKFA Best Actor win. He won for the first time in 1995 for "Chungking Express", in 1998 for "Happy Together", followed by "In the Mood For Love" (2001), "Infernal Affairs" (2003), and "2046" in 2005.
However, Tony hadn't won again for 18 years until now.
