Cara Delevingne rocked the red carpet at the Met Gala on Monday night as she revealed her gold-painted body under a red satin suit.

The model and actor, 29, removed her custom-made Christian Dior double-breasted jacket outside New York's The Metropolitan Museum of Art to free her bare chest –covered only with gold nipple stickers.

Her look was complete with gold chain choker necklaces, body jewellery, glitter eyeshadow and a cane with a gold handle, as well as red platform heels to match the suit.

Known for working to overcome body image pressures, she confidently stuck her tongue out as she posed for the cameras at the annual fundraising event, with this year's theme In America: An Anthology of Fashion, and the dress code 'gilded glamour'.

Looking cool and collected, she leant on the black cane while carrying the red jacket in one hand or draping it over her shoulders, her silky trousers still on.

Her long wavy blonde hair was parted to one side, with her right ear tattoos on show.

Delevingne saved the reveal of her gold-painted breasts for the red carpet, at first rocking the suit in full, with only her painted hands and feet visible.

She made her Met Gala red carpet debut in 2011, and has since stolen the show multiple times, with her outfit last year being just as bold.

She memorably wore another Dior look, most notably a white vest with the words 'Peg the patriarchy' written in bold red lettering across the front.

It was about "women's empowerment" and "gender equality", she told Vogue correspondent Keke Palmer at the time.

“If anyone doesn’t know what this word is [peg], you’re going to have to look it up because I’m not going to explain it," she said, though added, “You know, it’s a bit like, ‘stick it to the man’, if anyone wants to look up the word.”

Delevingne shared the carpet this year with many other celebs not afraid to take risks and wow with their outfits, including Kim Kardashian, co-host Blake Lively and Billie Eilish.
