A candlelit protest in southern Myanmar

Video by local news outlet Dawei Watch showed protesters holding candles, while chanting slogans and marching in the township. The demonstrators also gathered to sing revolutionary songs.

Anti-coup protesters continued to be out in force for the 58th day since a military junta overthrew elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi and her government.

At least 512 civilians have been killed in nearly two months of protests against the coup, 141 of them on Saturday (March 27), the bloodiest day of the unrest, according to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) advocacy group.
