All Cameron Highlands helicopter crash victims rescued, sent to hospital
IPOH, October 26 — All six victims from the helicopter crash incident in Brinchang, Cameron Highland, have been rescued and sent to Hospital Cameron Highlands for treatment, said Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.
Mohd Yusri said that police were alerted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia air traffic control tower of the incident at around 1.20pm today.
“The victims were found near the area of Perak-Pahang border. The victims include, a male pilot, two male passengers, and three female passengers.
“All the victims are safe, but sustained various injuries,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Yusri said all the five passengers were medical personnel attached to the Kinta District Health office.
He also said that helicopter was on its way back from Kampung Gawin, Gua Musang to the PDU base at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak, after completing its community medical service duty.
It is learnt that all the six victims will be transferred to the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) in Ipoh for further treatment.
Mohd Yusri also said the crash investigation will be carried out by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Transport Ministry.
Separately, Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Azmi Osman said that the first victim, which is the pilot, was brought out of the jungle at 5.57pm.
“Subsequently, we rescued all the five passengers one after the other and the last victim was brought out from the crash site at 8.38pm,” he said in a statement.
