Camel library brings books to Pakistan desert

Roshan the camel is on an important mission

LOCATION: Mand, Balochistan, Pakistan

He carries a cargo of books for children

traveling through Pakistan's desert terrain

The Camel Library project began in August

after schools were closed

NAME: RAHEEMA JALAL, HEAD OF THE CAMEL PROJECT:

"Every child cannot afford to go to school in the morning and then pay for tuition lessons in the evening. If we give these books free of charge to the children in their homes, it will not only help in their learning process, but will also prevent them from falling into wrong activities."

Many villages in Balochistan have no internet access

It's hoped the library will get more funding to cover a wider area

NAME: AMBAREEN IMRAN, SCHOOL GIRL:

"I like picture books, because when I look at the pictures and the photographs , I can understand the story better."
