California's Deadly Mill Fire Produces 'Smokenado'

A “smokenado” formed as fire crews in northern California battled the Mill Fire on Friday, September 2.

Footage from the scene shows a thin vortex of smoke trailing skyward as a firefighting aircraft drops water on the wildfire.

The Mill Fire grew to over 4,250 acres on Sunday and was 25 percent contained, Cal Fire said. At least two people were killed by the blaze. Credit: Michael Gaio via Storyful
