California National Guard Rescue Motorists From Pajaro River Evacuation Zone

Members of California’s National Guard assisted stranded motorists in Monterey County overnight into Saturday, March 11, after the Pajaro River levee broke and flooded the area.

The Pajaro River levee breached at “approximately midnight,” according to Monterey County officials. Mandatory evacuation orders were issued for Pajaro at 12:32 am local time, according to reports.

Video released by the California National Guard shows soldiers assisting a person out of a flooded vehicle on Saturday morning. According to the Twitter post, the National Guard assisted 56 rescues in the area.
