California media reported on April 29 that the state’s governor, Gavin Newsom, would order all beaches across the state to be closed on April 30.
As of April 29, 46,500 people had tested positive for the coronavirus in California, with 1,887 people having died.
According to the Los Angeles Times, last weekend a heat wave hit Southern California and thousands flocked to beaches in Orange County.
