After Calif. Mom Was Found Dead, Her 2 Children and Their Father Went Missing

Police are searching for Camron Lee and his children Athena, 4, and Mateo, 2, after their mother was found dead in a Sacramento, Calif., home

Police are searching for a man and his two children after the mother of the children was found dead in a Sacramento, Calif., home — and authorities believe the father's vehicle has crossed the border into Mexico.

On Monday, July 8, just before 7:30 p.m., Sacramento Police Department officers responding to reports of a medical aid call located a deceased female, per a news release shared on Facebook.

The victim's children, Athena Lee, 4, and Mateo Lee, 2, weren't found at the residence, and neither was their father, Camron Lee, police say.

The woman's identity has not been made public. Her cause or manner of death was also not released, though police said the homicide unit is investigating.

"It is believed that the kids are with [Camron] and the Sacramento Police Department has not been able to get in contact with him," police said in the Facebook release.

"Detectives would like to speak with [Camron] regarding the whereabouts of the children," the release stated.

It's believed Camron is driving a gray 2023 Honda Pilot with the California license plate number CA- 9JUS091. He wasn't named as suspect in the release and it's not clear if he and the children's mother were in a relationship.

In a subsequent update, police said the Honda is believed to have entered Mexico.

In the update, police said that locating the children is "a top priority." Because the vehicle is believed to be in Mexico, the criteria for an Amber Alert is not met, though the children have been added to the Missing and Unidentified Persons System (MUPS), say police.
