Café Kumoya is set to open at Orchard Central this 29 August
SINGAPORE – Japanese-French inspired café Kumoya is welcoming fans to their new outlet at Orchard Central on 29 August at 11am. Spanning over 2,000 sq ft, the new café hopes to draw in customers with their fun vibe, kawaii décor and food design.
Kumoya@Orchard Central will feature 70 seatings and a private room, should you like to throw a private birthday or dinner party for friends and family members.
To celebrate the opening, a pop-up café themed ‘Rilakkuma -The Relax Café’ will feature the first semi-permanent San-X characters in Southeast Asia. Rilakkuma, which means ‘bear in relaxed mood,’ is one of San-X’s popular characters alongside Kutusitanyanko, Sentimental Circus, Mamegoma, Monokuro Boo, Tsuginohikerori, Kamonohashikamo, Kireizukinseikatsu, Tarepanda, and Afro Ken.
This will be a year-long collaboration between San-X, Japan and Kumoya@Orchard Central, with various San-X characters making their appearances in the pop-up café.
To complement the immersive kawaii experience, a special Rilakkuma-inspired menu is on the table, that is specially curated by the popular bento food artist Shirley Wong (@littlemissbento) in collaboration with their kitchen crew. There will be 11 snacks, nine mains, five desserts and 12 beverages in total. The price range is between S$11.90 to S$29.90.
There will also be specially-imported Rilakkuma merchandise that fans can shop from.
Kumoya ventured into themed pop-up café in 2017 and successfully collaborated with some of the world’s most iconic brands such as Cinnamoroll, Miffy, Care Bears, tokidoki, Mr Men Little Miss, My Little Pony, Pusheen, Snoopy, Sesame Street, We Bare Bears and Gudetama X Bad badtz-maru.
Their menu does not feature pork, lard and alcohol and food items are prepared by a team of Muslim staff and colleagues. Their ingredients are also sourced from major Halal distributors and suppliers.
