Every Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan has an opinion when it comes to which episodes of the hit supernatural series are the best – Once More with Feeling, anyone? But it's extra hard to fight your favourites' corner against Sarah Michelle Gellar's, who has just revealed her personal top trio.

The actor, who rose to fame as the titular demon killer in the late 1990s, took part in an 'Ask Me Anything' on Reddit recently, where she gave a shout out to season 3's The Prom, which she described as "beautiful and heartbreaking."

In the episode, Buffy finds herself battling three hell hounds single-handedly while Xander (Nicholas Brendan), Willow (Alyson Hannigan) and the rest of the Scoobies try to enjoy the Sunnydale High senior dance.

And if that's not enough to have to deal with, Angel (David Boreanaz) calls off their relationship, too... Being the Chosen One sure ain't easy.

Gellar went to explain that she "loved the whole story and thought it fully encapsulated the show so well."

Next, she highlighted Hush, which aired during the show's fourth season. The instalment barely features any dialogue as the group face off against creepy-looking entities called The Gentlemen, who steal their enemy's ability to speak.

"It was one of the scariest, but it was also such a challenge to do a silent episode," she said.

Lastly, Gellar gushed about season 5's The Body, which is undoubtedly one of the programme's most harrowing episodes. In it, Buffy and her younger sister Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) must come to terms with the death of their mother Joyce.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons 1-7 are currently available on All 4 and Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
