Buccaneers Quarterback Baker Mayfield Gets Called Out by Fans for Popping Zyn on the Sideline Mid Game
"That Bucs game was so stressful, Baker Mayfield had to pop a zyn," one user wrote on social media
Baker Mayfield caused a stir on the sidelines during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Monday Night Football game.
When the broadcast caught Mayfield, 29, ingesting something on the sidelines during the game, fans on social media claimed they recognized the product as Zyn, a nicotine product that's recently increased in demand.
"That Bucs game was so stressful, Baker Mayfield had to pop a zyn," one account wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Another user said, "I saw the clip of Baker Mayfield popping a Zyn on the sidelines last night. No wonder why the Bucs lost," after Tampa Bay's 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday.

Others speculated that the NFL would penalize Mayfield if it was discovered he was taking Zyn during the game as the league prohibits players from using nicotine products on the field.
But the quarterback is reportedly off the hook with the league. ESPN reporter Jenna Laine said on Friday, Oct. 25 that he will not be disciplined.
"A league source tells me that Baker Mayfield will not receive punishment for using Zyn on the sidelines," Laine reported. "Zyn is a nicotine product and nicotine is prohibited by the NFL on the sidelines and in interviews. He'll receive a letter reminding him of this."
PEOPLE has reached out to representatives for the Buccaneers and NFL for comment.
Zyn first hit the market in 2014, according to USA Today, but their popularity has grown in recent years.

Swedish Match, the company the manufactures the product, wasn't thrilled by their product's possible appearance on the NFL sidelines, however.
In a statement to TMZ after the game, a representative for the company said they appreciate their loyal customers, but "encourages them not to show the product in any situation where someone under 21 years old could see it."
Mayfield and the Buccaneers next face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Oct. 27.
