Your BTS meals got nothing on these cool DIY sneakers (Video)

·1-min read

While some tried to score big bucks from selling empty packets of the McDonald’s BTS meals, one artist decided to turn them into custom sneakers.

Fashion stylist Josiah Chua showed off his DIY kicks yesterday after getting his hands on the much-raved-about purple-themed fast-food meals. He had cut up all the packaging and fitted them nicely to a pair of soles, attached a box of chicken nuggets on the sides, and stuck the packets of exclusive sweet chili and cajun sauces on the shoelaces.

If anyone’s thinking of a world where fast fashion and fast food collides, this guy has done it.

“Custom sneakers with a pocket for your nuggets on the go!” Chua wrote on Instagram when sharing photos of his work yesterday. Chua also put up a sleek video of himself making the sneakers on TikTok.

His content stood out among all the posts about resellers flipping BTS meals for exorbitant prices before the listings were removed from the Carousell platform.

The meals, the result of a collaboration between the fast-food giant and K-pop group BTS, reportedly sold out within minutes of its launch on Monday morning.

The campaign has been spreading across the globe starting with the United States on May 26. Singapore became one of the last few countries to welcome it after some delay due to the recent wave of COVID-19 infections.
