KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — Jungkook of boyband BTS made history by being the first male K-pop solo artist to win an award at the 2023 MTV Music Video Awards (VMA).

His single Seven featuring Latto won the award for Song of the Summer, beating nominations from hot US artists like Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, SZA, and Taylor Swift.

This makes him the first male K-pop solo artist to win the 'Moonman' trophy.

Jungkook was not present at the awards ceremony.

Other K-pop artists also won awards and lit up the MTV VMAs last night.

Popular K-Pop girl group Blackpink also took home the award for Group of the Year and Best Choreography for Pink Venom.

Despite being nominated in several categories, the quartet did not grace the awards ceremony.

K-pop boyband Stray Kids won Best K-pop Song for S-Class and electrified the award stage with a live performance.

Boy group TXT also took home the award for PUSH Performance of the Year and performed Back For More featuring Brazilian singer Anitta.
