Fancy commuting by broomstick?

Location: Sao Paulo, Brazil

(SOUNDBITE) (English) RIDER OF MOTORISED BROOMSTICK, VINICIUS SANCTUS, SAYING:

"Free. It's a free feeling, you feel like you're actually flying, you glide through the streets, you know. It kind of requires a lot of balance but once you get it, it's pretty much amazing."

These broomsticks have motorized wheels

The rider can steer by leaning

and reach speeds of up to 37mph

(SOUNDBITE) (English) MOTORISED BROOMSTICK CREATOR, ALESSANDRO RUSSO, SAYING:

"People on Harry Pottery, they control the broom by leaning their body. So I thought, we already have vehicles that we control for the balance of our body, so maybe if we could bring the control not to your feet but to the broom, maybe that would bring a very similar sensation to how people ride brooms in movies."

The founders plan to take them to market

selling them for around $740 each

(SOUNDBITE) (English) MOTORISED BROOMSTICK CREATOR, ALESSANDRO RUSSO, SAYING:

"Our final goal is to sell the brooms to the world and maybe create a new variation of the sport quidditch, which will actually be played on brooms. And it'll look a lot like the one played in the Harry Potter movies."
