Brooklynn Prince, Gil Birmingham, and Caren Pistorius Join ‘The Marsh King’s Daughter’ (EXCLUSIVE)

“The Marsh King’s Daughter” has rounded out its cast with Brooklynn Prince, Gil Birmingham, and Caren Pistorius joining the ensemble of the psychological thriller. They will appear alongside the previously announced Daisy Ridley and Ben Mendelsohn in the big-screen adaptation of Karen Dionne’s best-selling novel of the same name. Neil Burger, the director of “Limitless” and “The Illusionist,” will slide behind the camera on this one.

STXfilms, Black Bear Pictures and Anonymous Content have joined forces on the film, which started production in Canada this week.

Here’s the official logline: “‘The Marsh King’s Daughter’ follows Helena (Ridley), a woman living a seemingly ordinary life with her husband and young daughter, but hiding a dark secret within: that her father is the infamous ‘Marsh King,’ the man who kept Helena and her mother captive in the wilderness for years. Helena is forced to face her demons when her father escapes from prison unexpectedly. Knowing that he will hunt for her and her family, Helena must find the strength to confront her past and the man she once idolized.”

Prince currently stars in the Apple TV+ series “Home Before Dark,” which made its season two debut last week. She first grabbed audiences’ attention with her star turn in the Oscar-nominated “The Florida Project,” and has since appeared in “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part,” “The Turning,” and “The One and Only Ivan.”

Birmingham’s credits include “Wind River,” the “Twilight” franchise, “Hell or High Water,” and “Yellowstone.” He recently wrapped five episodes of the limited Netflix series “Pieces of Her” opposite Toni Collette and will next be seen in Marvel’s “Eternals” from director Chloé Zhao.

Pistorius starred opposite Russell Crowe in the action thriller “Unhinged,” and is known for roles in “Gloria Bell,” “High Ground,” “Mortal Engines,” and “Slow West.”

The film was written by Elle Smith and Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”) and is produced by Black Bear Pictures’ Teddy Schwarzman (“The Imitation Game”), Anonymous Content’s Keith Redmon (“Midnight Sky”) and Mark L. Smith. Executive Producers are Black Bear’s Michael Heimler, Syndicate Entertainment’s Cliff Roberts, and Charles Miller. Black Bear will fully finance the project.

STXfilms is distributing the film in the US, the UK, Ireland, and India. The Marsh King’s Daughter falls under the output and distribution agreement between Black Bear Pictures and STXinternational.
