Brittany Cartwright felt blindsided by her estranged husband Jax Taylor's comments on this week's episode of The Valley.

The estranged couple, who was together at the time of filming the series, is shown spending time alone together in a hotel room during the new episode of the Bravo show on Tuesday, April 30. In a confessional, Taylor, 44, shares that he and Cartwright, 35, used to have a lot more fun before welcoming their 3-year-old son Cruz.

“We used to be so much fun and then we had a child, and I just feel like it all went out the door,” Taylor says. “You know, I’ve heard stories of this happening but I’m like, ‘Oh that’s not going to happen to me.’ And it did!”

As the scene moves back to the hotel room, Cartwright and Taylor get ready for a prepared meal and sit down together by the window. While they're talking, they discuss opening up their bar together, which Taylor says will be hard if they're trying to have a second baby.

“I just want you to know, having more kids requires more work. And we’re opening up a bar and you’re trying to add another kid,” Taylor says.

“Okay, the bar comes second to another child, to me,” Cartwright says, to which Taylor responds, "I have to work. A lot."

“We both will,” Cartwright says. “But we already said we’re having another child. We are starting and we’re trying. Soon.”

In a confessional, Cartwright shares her confusion, saying that she and Taylor "had a plan" about growing their family. "Why in the world is he doing this to me?” she asks.

Back in the hotel room, Taylor talks about their son Cruz, saying that having another baby would take needed attention away from their toddler.

“Obviously Cruz needs a little bit more attention right now with his verbal,” the reality TV star says. “I’m just worried, also, that bringing another child in this world…Is it going to take away from the focus that we need to put on him right now?”

“Cruz is always going to have what he needs,” Cartwright responds. “I’m upset that you’re making me feel like that I’m not putting Cruz first, which I always put Cruz first. I care about him more than anything in this entire world.”

The two go back and forth, prompting Cartwright to start crying. In a confessional, the proud mom says she feels "blindsided" because she thought they already had this conversation.

“I just feel like I don’t even know him right now. He is just completely blindsiding me," Cartwright explains. "I am a great mom, I’m a great wife and it almost feels like I’ve done something wrong. And I know I haven’t. So it f------ sucks."

In his confessional, Taylor says that the idea of having another baby right now is "overwhelming.'

“I can’t think of anything more overwhelming right now than bringing another child in this world,” Taylor shares. “Brittany doesn’t see the big picture that I see. She sees rainbows and butterflies and money grows on a tree in the backyard."

"Do I keep working on the marriage or do I throw another kid in the mix when everything’s already going to shit? It’s not going to help our marriage, it’s going to make it worse," Taylor adds.

The former Vanderpump Rules stars announced their separation in February after four years of marriage. They currently appear together on the first season of Bravo's The Valley, which was filmed before their split.

The Valley airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
