Britney Spears Shared Her Real Thoughts on Justin Timberlake's New Song, 'Selfish'
Spears is a supportive ex.
Britney Spears is being rather self-less when it comes to her ex Justin Timberlake's new single, "Selfish." On Sunday, Spears shared a video to her Instagram from Timberlake's appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In the clip, Timberlake is joined by Fallon and the show's band The Roots for their Classroom Instruments segment, during which they play a medley of Timberlake's music only using children's noisemakers.
"I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song “Selfish” 🌹," Spears wrote alongside the musical performance. "It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ???"
She also addressed her memoir The Woman in Me, in which she wrote about her and Timberlake's early 2000s relationship and apologized for what she said about her ex. "I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book," Spears continued. "If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry …"

The two dated from 1999 to 2002. Spears revealed in her book that during that time, she became pregnant and had an abortion. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy," she wrote in the book. "He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young." She added that if it had been her solely choice she "never would have done it," but "Justin was so sure that he didn't want to be a father."
After Timberlake announced the release of his new single, Britney fans began streaming her 2011 track with the same name in order to surpass Timberlake's new single. On Friday, Spears's "Selfish" rose to no. 1, beating out JT's. However, as of Monday, Timberlake is sitting at no. 2 with Spears at no. 3.
Timberlake will release his album Everything I Thought It Was on Mar. 15, marking his first studio album since 2018.
