British intelligence discloses new problem in Russian attempts to increase number of troops

Russia is making massive efforts to deploy more troops in the northwest of the country, as most of its armed forces are fighting against Ukraine, British intelligence said in a report published on X on March 26.

As an evidence, in the Russian city of Luga, which is located in the newly created Leningrad Military District, an announcement was made about recruitment to the new 44th Army Corps.

Russia will most likely have to decide whether to leave the new units in the location of their creation or to deploy them in Ukraine in order to maintain combat capability on the frontlines.

According to the report, previously newly created units were immediately deployed to Ukraine, indicating that the need to support the war is holding back Russian ambitions to expand its armed forces.

Losses of the Russian army in Ukraine

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost about 438.160 of its military personal, 770 in the past 24 hours.

The total losses of the occupiers report, being updated regularly by the General Staff, is made up of two types of losses that the enemy incurs during combat operations. Namely, irrecoverable losses and combat medical losses of the enemy.

Prior to that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian losses amounted to 180.000 killed and up to half a million wounded.

At the same time, Russian media verified more than 46.000 soldiers who died in the war against Ukraine since February 2022. More than 8.000 of the dead were prisoners recruited for the war against Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on March 14 said that according to Western intelligence services, the losses of Russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have exceeded 350.000 people.
