Playing a superhero couldn't even prepare Brie Larson for the emotional night she had at the Golden Globes.

The Lessons in Chemistry actress, 34, was starstruck on the event's red carpet Sunday night when she came face-to-face with Jennifer Lopez, whose work she credited for inspiring her to act.

During a viral red carpet conversation with ET, Larson choked up when she noticed Lopez standing directly behind her — and even walking right toward her!

"Oh my God. I'm gonna cry," Larson said as she closed her eyes. "I can't deal with J. Lo."

Despite fanning herself with her hands and appearing to be at a loss for words, Larson did indeed "deal" with the superstar, 54, who she immediately complimented. "You mean to much to me," Larson told Lopez as she said introduced herself. "Oh my god."

After a hug, and J. Lo explaining that she was "such a huge fan" of Larson, the Marvel star got candid with the fellow actress.

"I saw Selena and it made me want to be an actor. And you've always meant so much to me," she said of Lopez's 1997 film.

"Oh my God, don't make me cry," Lopez responded.

While both women began to tear up even more, Larson — who was nominated Sunday in the best performance by a female actor in a limited series, anthology series or motion picture made for television category —called the moment "a dream" of hers.

"Your work ethic is so important," she said to Lopez. "Thank you. I've been wanting to say that to you for a long time so I'm really — I didn't think it was going to be right now. OK. I'm gonna have to go do a shot of tequila or something."

"I just did one," Lopez joked in response, before waving to Larson's mother off to the side.

Elsewhere on Sunday night, Lopez opened up to Variety about her wedding-themed music video for her new single "Can't Get Enough," which she admitted might surprise some people.

"It’s definitely kind of a meta story about the journey that it takes to get from heartbreak back to love," said Lopez, before joking that she's "somewhat of an expert" in weddings, having been married four times.

"I don’t take myself too seriously," she added. "I think that life is a crazy journey where you fall down and you get back up, and you keep trying and you never give up."
