Brian Cox says he sang goodbye to father-in-law over FaceTime

Brian Cox has told how he sang goodbye to his beloved father-in-law over FaceTime.

The Scottish actor was in London doing press for his hit TV show Succession when his father-in-law passed away last weekend, so the pair bade each other farewell online with a moving duet.

Opening up in an emotional interview on BBC Breakfast, Cox said: “We sang, it was on FaceTime.

“We sang. He was such a wonderful man. He was Iranian, my father-in-law. And we sang So Long, It's Been Good To Know You.

“And it was just... and he joined in, and it just amazing.”

The star – who was tearful as he shared the memory – went on: “This was my last memory of him and it was a beautiful memory.”

Cox, 75, said that he was ready to cancel his press junkets to go and be with his father-in-law but that his wife Nicole Ansari told him to stay, and that he’d had his goodbye.

The actor stars as terrifying billionaire Logan Roy in Succession, which followers the dysfunctional owners of an entertainment conglomerate.

Cox tied the knot with Ansari in 2002 and the couple have two sons together.

The actor was also married before and has a daughter and a son – the actor Alan Cox – from his former marriage.
