Winter sportsmen were delighted as heavy snow continued to accumulate in Colorado’s northern mountains into Thursday, January 2, with winter weather advisories issued for the region by the National Weather Service (NWS).
Parts of Colorado’s High Country were under a winter storm warning and winter weather advisory on Thursday, the weather service said.
The NWS forecast an additional two to five inches of snow for the region. The weather service warned drivers of blowing snow and wind gusts up to 60 mph.

The resort said on Twitter that seven inches of snow fell overnight, bringing the 24-hour total to nine inches. “Start your decade with some pow turns,” they wrote in a post, accompanied by a star emoji.
