Brave rescuers haul deer from deep well in central India

A team from India's Forest Department performed an impressive rescue on Saturday (February 20) of a deer which fell into a deep well in the state of Telangana. Two men descended the steep sides of the water source in Alampally in Vikarabad and then swam over to the stricken animal. They then managed to tie a rope around the deer so that a team at the surface could haul the creature to safety. One of the rescuers remained with the deer as it was being lifted to safety, climbing the walls of the well with one arm while supporting the animal with the other. As soon as the ropes were untied at the surface, the deer sprinted off into the wild apparently uninjured.
