The Boys season 2 spoilers follow.
The second series of the Amazon show came to an end earlier this month with a truly awesome scene depicting female supers Starlight (Erin Moriarty), Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Maeve (Dominique McElligott) taking down the season's big bad Stormfront (Aya Cash).
The scene drew obvious comparisons to the supposedly iconic Endgame moment which saw the female Marvel superheroes finally come together, only for the day to be saved by Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr).
Speaking recently, Kripke confirmed that the disappointment of that Endgame scene led to the 'girls get it done' moment in The Boys.
Asked about the scene in question, he told The Hollywood Reporter: "A lot of that came from our executive producer, Rebecca Sonnenshine, who came in after the weekend Endgame opened.
"She was just furious. I saw it, too, and I was like, 'That was the dumbest, most contrived—' And she's like, 'Don't get me started.' She found it condescending and I agreed," he continued.
"So that just created for us a target, a satirical target. When there's something really ridiculous in either superhero or celebrity or Hollywood culture, we'll immediately go after it.
"It's an easy shot."
The comments follow Kripke teasing the return of Love Sausage (Andrew Jackson) in season 3, recently confirming that there's been a "conversation" about it happening.
Meanwhile, Kripke also recently explained Supernatural star Jensen Ackles' role as Soldier Boy in the forthcoming third season, saying: "Soldier Boy has been a mainstay of Vought for decades.
"He was like John Wayne there, and so as a result, we're writing the history of Vought and how all the characters weave in together."
The Boys is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
