Boy pulled alive from borewell after 104 hours

STORY: The boy, who is differently-abled and identified as Rahul Sahu, had fallen into a 60-feet-deep borewell in Pihrid village on Friday (June 10).

Personnel from National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, district administration and army were called in to the spot to rescue the child.

The operation lasted for about 104 hours during which the child was provided oxygen through pipeline.

Upon rescue, the child was welcomed with cheers and applauses from the rescue officials and others gathered at the site. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Incidents of children falling into open borewells have been reported frequently in India in recent times. Over the years, such cases have come to light in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Rajasthan and others.
