Boy, 8, Rescues Kitten from Being Abused at a Local Park by a Group of Kids: 'I Felt Sad and Mad'
The young boy traded his skateboard to stop the other children from harming the animal
An 8-year-old boy from Arizona traded his skateboard to save a kitten from being abused.
Zayin Berry was at a local park when he saw a group of children tossing a kitten and decided to intervene, according to Arizona Family.
The young boy offered to trade his skateboard for the kitten, who he later named Peaches, the outlet said.
"I felt sad and mad," the child told KYMA. "I let them play with my skateboard, and they were kicking it and using it as a football."
"They went to go play with it and I picked up the cat and ran to my mom," he added to the outlet.
Per Arizona Family, the mother and son brought Peaches home, though they soon realized he was not in the best condition.
"You could hear its breathing was all congested and his paws were all caked with gunk on it," said the concerned mother to the outlet.

The two then brought the kitten to the Humane Society in Yuma, where he was treated for an upper respiratory infection. One of his eyes was also required to be surgically removed.
"For Zayin to have that care and that drive at such a young age is honestly outstanding," Humane Society worker Lauren Twerdak told Arizona Family.
As a reward for his act of bravery, Zayin was given a gift card from the store Zumiez to purchase a new skateboard after the group of kids took his.
The family also received donations that allowed them to adopt Peaches.
The Humane Society posted about the heartwarming story on Facebook on Dec. 13, writing, "This young man absolutely stepped up and did the right thing. Peaches is lucky to have you, Zayin."
