Boy, 10, admits he shot dead unknown man in trailer park in Texas when he was seven
A ten-year-old boy has reportedly admitted killing a 32-year-old man in his sleep in the south of the US.
The child is said to have been seven when he shot Brandon Rasberry, a man he did now know, in January 2022 in a trailer park in Nixon, Texas state.
The victim had only moved to the Lazy J RV Park four days before he was killed.
Because of his age, the child cannot be named or charged over the incident but he was held at a psychiatric hospital.
He is also said to be being held in juvenile detention for a separate incident.
Mr Rasberry shot once in the head and his body was found after he did not show up for work for two days.
The Gonzales County Sheriff's Office, a local law enforcement unit, shared details of the incident on Friday.
A statement read: “The medical examiner concluded cause of death was a gunshot wound of the head and manner of death was homicide.
“Based on information gathered from the scene, witness statements and the autopsy report from the medical examiner it was estimated Brandon had been deceased for approximately two days prior to law enforcement's arrival.”
The boy had obtained a pistol from the glove box of his grandfather’s truck and returned it after the shooting.
The sheriff’s office said he was not “mad” at the victim and didn’t appear to hold any grudge.
The victim's father Kenneth Rasberry told local news outlet KSAT: "This is a little boy, for reasons that I'm sure these counsellors and case managers and all of that, that's going to pick that poor little boy's brain apart.
"He needs to be prayed on. He needs to be comforted... He's forgiven. And he can still be saved. He's so young. He's definitely tormented by something."
