but his dreams were shattered

when the games were postponed

(SOUNDBITE) (English) 35-YEAR-OLD FORMER JAPANESE OLYMPIC TRAMPOLINIST, TETSUYA SOTOMURA, SAYING:

"Yes, the news of the postponement was very shocking. I wanted to compete at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 but the Games moved to one year later. This means it is like retirement, it is almost the same meaning."

The 35-year-old said it would be his last event

as his body could not handle another year of training

He says he’s not bitter about missing the games

and is instead focusing on new projects

like opening his own trampoline center
