KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 — Tesla Model 3 Highland has finally been revealed to the world and to our surprise, Malaysia is one of the first markets in Asia Pacific that has already begun to accept orders for the newly upgraded model. If you feel tempted by the new variant but already ordered a Model Y, Tesla has made a special arrangement for Malaysian customers to address that scenario.
The EV company has since provided an option for Malaysian customers to switch their order from Model Y to Model 3 Highland without losing their RM1,000 order fee. Tesla’s no-refund policy for order fees is widely known in the industry, so this is a rather interesting move by the company.
Tesla Malaysia Model Y order fee refund process
In order to get back the Model Y order fee, here are the steps that were provided by Tesla Malaysia to SoyaCincau.com:
Email to firstname.lastname@example.org by providing your original Model Y order reference number and your new Model 3 reference number.
In order for your refund request to be considered, the following criteria must be met in full:
You must have an active Model Y order placed before September 1, 2023.
You must have placed a new Model 3 order.
Both your Model Y and your new Model 3 orders are placed under the same Tesla Account, verified by the same email address.
Both orders must be placed for Malaysia.
Your refund request must be sent to us by September 15, 2023 and will only be processed once.
This arrangement is made out of goodwill, and Tesla reserves the right of interpretation and change at Tesla’s sole discretion. Once your request is approved, it may take up to 30 working days for it to be reflected on your credit card statement.
