Bolivians reclaim the streets for Pedestrians Day

STORY: In La Paz, the city's normally congested streets and thoroughfares were cleared of cars and became a playground for street artists, performers, and various sports activities.

The National Day of the Pedestrian and Cyclist has been celebrated on the first Sunday of September since 2011 in an effort to help raise environmental awareness among the local populace.

The event is also seen by many as a celebration of Bolivia's 17,000 hectares of protected areas, which include national parks and wildlife reserves.
