A Bolivian couple are saving honey bees from coca deforestation
Location: Los Yungas, Bolivia
These apiculturists scour the region looking for beehives to save
They then house them in purpose-built wooden beehives
at their family-owned bee sanctuary

Compared with other years, many bees are disappearing here. For this reason, we feel obliged to continue working for the bees, in order to rescue the species."
The staggering decline of honey bee colonies
has alarmed experts around the world
Paredes and his wife claim to have saved ten species of native bees
over the past 10 years
"Bees are incredibly important for our planet. It has been shown that bees are responsible for 70 percent of food production around the world. This gives greater importance to the work we do."
