Body found in wheel well of United Airlines flight

A body was found in a wheel well of a United Airlines flight upon landing Tuesday in Maui, Hawaii, according to the airline.

“Upon arrival at Kahului airport in Maui on Tuesday, a body was found in the wheel well of one of the main landing gears on a United aircraft,” the airline told The Hill in a statement.

The passengers flew on a Boeing 787-10. The airline’s Flight 202 took off from Chicago O’Hare International Airport at around 9:31 a.m. local time and after nearly nine hours landed at Kahului Airport at around 2:12 p.m. local time, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware.

“The wheel well was only accessible from outside of the aircraft,” the airline said. “At this time, it is not clear how or when the person accessed the wheel well.”
