Who Is Bo Nix's Wife? All About Izzy Nix
Bo Nix and his wife met at Auburn University where he was the star quarterback and she was a cheerleader
Bo Nix's biggest cheerleader is his wife, Izzy Nix.
The star quarterback played at Auburn University for three seasons before transferring to the University of Oregon for the 2022 season. He was named the Pac-12 offensive player of the year in 2023 and was a Heisman Trophy candidate — his 61 starting games are the most among any quarterback in NCAA history.
Bo and Izzy met at Auburn, where she was a Tigers cheerleader. Izzy graduated from the university in May 2022 and the pair wed two months later in Alabama. Shortly after tying the knot, the couple moved to Eugene, Ore., where Bo spent two seasons with the Oregon Ducks.
In April 2024, Bo was drafted into the NFL by the Denver Broncos.
"The day I met Bo, he told me about this God-sized dream of his. I will never stop praising the Lord for His faithfulness or have enough words to express how proud I am of you, Bo," Izzy wrote on Instagram following Bo's big accomplishment. "Overjoyed and honored to join Broncos country!!!"
Here's everything to know about Bo Nix’s wife, Izzy Nix.
She is from Alabama
Izzy was born on Oct. 18, 1998. She and her three siblings, sisters Millie and Abbie and brother Luke, were raised in Birmingham, Ala. Growing up, Izzy spent 14 years as a gymnast, moving on from the sport just shy of her 17th birthday.
“Approximately 3,320x I have put on a leotard and looking back, I do not regret one bit of it. Gymnastics is a tough sport… It came with a heck of a lot of sacrifice, blood, sweat, tears, goals, lessons, challenges, fears, respect, teamwork and dedication,” she wrote on Instagram in October 2015.
Two years later, she graduated from the Evangel Christian School in Alabaster, Ala., where she also played basketball. Once she moved on to college, she spent some of her summers working as a counselor at Kanakuk Kamps in Branson, Mo.
She met Bo in college
Bo started his college career at Auburn University, where his father, Patrick Nix, also played as a quarterback. That’s where he met Izzy, an Auburn Tigers cheerleader, in June 2020.
“This guy is a true blessing lemme tell ya!!!! one year of knowing him and everyday gets sweeter 🤍,” she wrote on Instagram in June 2021.
Izzy graduated in May 2022. “i’ll never once take this for granted - standing next to these girls on gameday has quickly become my favorite thing,” she captioned a 2020 Instagram photo with three of her fellow cheerleaders.
Bo transferred to the University of Oregon ahead of the 2022-23 school year, and Izzy joined her soon-to-be-husband in his new college town of Eugene after graduating from Auburn.
“Trading in my orange & blue for green & yellow 💚💛🤭 next stop: OREGON!” she wrote on Instagram alongside a carousel of graduation photos.
They got engaged at Auburn’s football stadium
After just over one year of dating, the pair got engaged on July 30, 2021, with Bo getting down on one knee at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn.
“I knew from the first moment I laid eyes on you that you were special,” he wrote on Instagram after sharing their happy news. "I cannot wait to be your husband. Here’s to forever with you, Izzy Smoke!”
Izzy shared a similar sentiment on Instagram, writing, “Bo Chapman Nix, it is my greatest honor and joy that you have chosen me to be your WIFE."
She married Bo in Alabama
Bo and Izzy enjoyed a summer wedding in their home state.
Their nuptials were held at the Ridge Point Events Venue in Alpine, Ala., on July 2, 2022. Plenty of friends and family were in attendance, and the celebrations included unique elements like a bouncy house and surprise fireworks.
"Izzy, you are and will always be my greatest gift,” Bo wrote on Instagram alongside a carousel of photos in honor of their one-year wedding anniversary, to which Izzy responded in the comments, “BEST YEAR EVER!!!!!”
They support each other
Both Bo and Izzy praise each other publicly, with each sharing photos and sweet words about their partner on social media.
For Bo’s birthday in 2021, Izzy wrote, “The amount of grace this guy shows me on a daily basis is unmatched. He embodies humility, strength, and kindness in everything he does. It has been my greatest gift standing beside him.”
Though much of Bo’s Instagram is dedicated to football, he also posts often about Izzy, including plenty of photos from their wedding.
“I love you for infinity,” he wrote of Izzy on Instagram for Valentine’s Day 2022.
She said it was a "tough transition" moving to Oregon
Izzy may be the first to admit she didn’t expect to move to Oregon, but she had no qualms about starting over on the West Coast.
"It was definitely a tough transition coming out here, but I knew when we got engaged that we could live anywhere, be anywhere he could transfer, and so it’s been great,” she told Pac-12 Networks in September 2023.
Bo moved first, as Izzy still had a semester to finish up at Auburn before she could join him across the country.
“He came out here by himself, knew nobody, didn’t have me, didn’t have his parents down the street, nothing, and so he would tell me all the time, ‘I’ve realized that I can live on my own. I kind of feel like I’ve grown up,’ ” she recalled. “And I think that was great leading into our marriage, just him coming out here, growing. I feel like he’s always been mature and so wise and disciplined and one of the most driven people I know…”
They celebrate milestones at the beach
After their wedding, the Nixes jetted off to Mexico for their honeymoon. “Married the man of my dreams!!!!!!! & celebrated alll week long in CABO 😇🤪🐢💛,” Izzy wrote on Instagram in July 2022.
The beach is a favorite vacation spot for the pair. Izzy held her bachelorette party in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., in June 2022, and almost exactly one year later, Bo and Izzy took an “early” anniversary trip to Maui. Their tropical adventure included paragliding and plenty of beach time.
