Around 100 people evacuated a residential tower in south London on Saturday, June 27, as firefighters responded to a blaze that took hold in a first-floor flat and prevented it from spreading further.
The London Fire Brigade said eight fire engines and about 60 firefighters tackled the blaze, which started around 12.30pm and damaged the entire flat in which it broke out.
“Firefighters have worked exceptionally hard to get this flat fire under control. The whole of the first floor flat is damaged by the blaze but crews have prevented in spreading further,” Station Commander Ned Alexander stated.
