Blast Heard Outside Buckingham Palace as Man Arrested, Controlled Explosion Carried Out

A man was arrested outside Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening, May 2, after allegedly throwing suspected shotgun cartridges into palace grounds, police said.

The Metropolitan Police said a controlled explosion was conducted as a precaution.

The man was arrested around 7 pm on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon after he was searched and a knife was found. Police said they are not treating the matter as terror-related.

In this footage, an explosion is heard, surprising the recorder.
