Blake Lively is one step closer to Oz.

The actress, 37, took her love for method dressing to the next level at a Dec. 3 Wicked screening in N.Y.C. with her husband Ryan Reynolds.

For the outing, the Gossip Girl alum paid homage to Dorothy’s ruby slippers featured in The Wizard of Oz with a pair of $450 Marc Jacobs Kiki platform Mary Jane heels decked out in ruby crystal embellishments.

The shoes were stylishly appropriate for her magical night out and are still available on the brand’s website in select sizes, as is the rest of the collection inspired by the 1939 film.

Lively paired her dazzling footwear with baby blue socks, cuffed light-wash jeans and a white blazer over a pleated embroidered blouse. Accessorizing the look were statement jewelry and a floral-print purse.

Dorothy's (Judy Garland) iconic slippers are referenced in Jon M. Chu's blockbuster movie musical, but not in the way you might expect.

When seen on Nessarose (the character who later becomes the Wicked Witch of the East and is portrayed by Marissa Bode) in the film, they’re silver.

Costume designer Paul Tazewell told PEOPLE that the color is a nod to L. Frank Baum’s novel The Wizard of Oz (in which the shoes are referred to as silver) and Gregory Maguire's Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (the book that Wicked on Broadway and the Wicked movie are both based on).

At Metrograph, where the screening was held, Lively and Reynolds caught up with Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

Since they finished promoting their summer hits — including Lively’s It Ends with Us and Reynold’s Deadpool & Wolverine — the couple have kept things low-key.

They celebrated Reynolds' birthday in October by stepping out to see & Juliet on Broadway and traveled to New Orleans to see their friend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour stop later that month.
