Blackpink's Jennie Issues Apology for 'Vaping Indoors' as Reps Say She 'Deeply Regrets Her Mistake'

Last week, the singer shared a video to YouTube of herself using a vape while getting her hair and makeup done

Jennie Kim of Blackpink didn't mean to offend anyone by using a vape indoors.

After fans spotted the South Korean singer and actress, 28, using a vape while getting her hair and makeup done in a vlog shared to her YouTube channel on July 2, her reps issued a statement apologizing for the action via social media one week later.

"We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable with Jennie’s actions in the content released on the 2nd," reads the July 9 note from OA Entertainment, a record label founded by the performer in 2023.

"Jennie acknowledges and deeply regrets her mistake of vaping indoors and causing inconvenience to the staff," continued the statement. "Jennie has personally apologized to all the staff on-site who may have been affected."

OA Entertainment continued, "We apologize to her fans who have been disappointed through this incident. We hope to prevent this from reoccurring in the future. Thank you."

The YouTube video, titled "A Moment in Capri with Jennie," has since been edited to omit the shot of the star vaping indoors. Aside from the controversial moment, the rest of the clip shows her getting ready to make her runway debut at fashion designer Jacquemus' show in Italy on June 10.

Following her 2018 debut as a solo artist with the aptly-titled single "Solo," Jennie released two follow-up songs as a leading artist — "You & Me" and "One of the Girls" with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp from The Idol, in which the Blackpink member costarred — in 2023. Last year, she dropped collaborations with Zico ("Spot!") and Matt Champion ("Slow Motion").

She opened up about her plans to release more music in a May interview with Vogue Korea, telling the outlet, "I'm spending almost all of my day working on music these days. I lost track of time. I'm working hard with a desire to share my music with more people and a bolder ambition, so please look forward to it. I'll come back with a great performance to meet that expectation."

Last year, Blackpink became the most-streamed female group on Spotify with their songs — including hits like "How You Like That," "Kill This Love" and "DDU-DU DDU-DU" — amassing more than 8.8 billion total streams.
