K-pop girl group Blackpink exceeded 70 million subscribers on their official YouTube channel on Sunday (28 November) at 11am (KST), according to their talent agency YG Entertainment. This makes them the first artist(s) to achieve this milestone on the video streaming platform.

Blackpink first opened their YouTube channel in June 2016. It took them only five years and five months to unlock this achievement. This record also overtakes Justin Bieber’s YouTube channel, which comes in second with 66.4 million subscribers.

Since Blackpink made their debut in August 2016, they have already accomplished numerous achievements, such as the Guinness World Record for most subscribers for a band on YouTube earlier in April 2021 (when they had 60.3 million subscribers), and the best female group award in the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Blackpink, who has been active as a group and with solo activities, is made up of four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa. Their number of YouTube subscribers has increased exponentially after Lisa released her first solo album Lalisa.

Lisa tested positive for COVID-19 last week. Here's hoping that she recovers soon.
