“Black Panther”'s Letitia Wright teases return as Shuri in future Marvel projects: 'There’s a lot coming up!'

Wright responded to a question about her potentially reprising the role during an interview on "The View."

Letitia Wright is itching to cat-scratch her way back into the Black Panther universe, the Marvel star revealed in a new interview.

The 30-year-old, who starred as Shuri in director Ryan Coogler's 2018 epic Black Panther and its 2022 sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, teased a potential return as the character on Wednesday's episode of The View.

"There are some new Avenger movies on the horizon, and everyone wants to know if Shuri will be making another appearance in the Marvel universe. We need it," cohost Sunny Hostin excitedly asked Wright, who appeared on the show to promote Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, a new movie she produced.

"If it's, uh, let's just say, let's just say..." Wright responded, trailing off as she carefully chose her words. "I would like to continue with Shuri. She's one of my favorite characters, such a blessing, honestly, I kid you not. I'm so grateful for her."

Hostin probed further, asking Wright if "Black Panther 3" was on the horizon.

"There's a lot coming up," Wright said, smiling as she answered.

In January 2023, Wright told Variety that a third Black Panther film was in the works, though nothing formal has been announced by Marvel. Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Marvel representatives for comment.

Since joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Shuri in 2018, Wright also played the part in two Avengers films: Infinity War in 2018, and Endgame the following year.

Shuri is the younger sister of T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman), Black Panther's titular hero who becomes the new Black Panther following T'Challa's death in Wakanda Forever. Boseman, who originated the character in the MCU, died of cancer in 2020.

Fellow Black Panther star Lupita Nyong'o recently remembered Boseman on the third anniversary of his death in 2023, when she shared an Instagram photo of the actor. "Three years ago today, I experienced a singular pain at the news of @chadwickboseman's death," the actress captioned the photo. "The confusion was so profound that it took months to trust the feeling of joy again."

Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot releases on July 4.
