Portland police declared a riot late on August 31 in the city’s Pearl District after fires were started by protesters who had marched on Mayor Ted Wheeler’s home on the night of his birthday.
Footage captured by Scott Keeler shows a picnic table burning outside an apartment building on Northwest 10th Avenue. A banner saying “resign” can be seen in the background.
According to Oregon Live, 200 people marched to Wheeler’s building. The picnic table was taken from a nearby business and added to a fire that was started, they said.
